Freightliner Trucks was founded back in 1929 and is today one of the most popular American truck manufacturers. Leland James, the founder, set up a plant in Portland, Oregon to manufacture semi tractors. First known as Consolidated Freightways, the company then began to make trucks under the banner of Freightliner in the 1930s. When they built trucks for the war effort during the Second World War, the company was rebranded as Freightliner Corporation.

Since the start, this company has been known for making some of the most durable, innovative and capable vehicles. As a leading Freightliner Trucks dealer, California Truck Centers is here to tell you about the latest models from the company. Cascadia®

One of the most advanced on-highway vehicles that the company has ever manufactured is the 2020 Cascadia truck by Freightliner. With an aerodynamic design that helps to boost fuel efficiency, you’ll feel the miles fly by easily. Uptime is increased thanks to a smart exterior design that helps to make it easier to service the truck.

Many drivers easily spend over 100 hours in their trucks over the course of a week’s work, so the interior of the Cascadia is designed to make that time as comfortable as possible. You can choose between a day cab or a sleeper cab, depending on the needs of your drivers. The day cab options promote both functionality and safety, with simple controls and comfortable seating along with a powerful HVAC system to regulate temperature.

If you want a sleeper cab, you’ll have three mid-roof sizes (48”, 60” or 72”) to choose from or two raised-roof sizes (60” and 72”). An optional driver lounge provides a two-seat dining or working space along with a 40” by 80” fold-down bed. Some models have refrigerators and the storage space has been improved to add shelving. Swing-out TV brackets can accommodate flat-panel TVs up to 24” and there are more power outlets for charging up devices.

M2 106

This is a medium-duty truck that can take on a variety of different bodies and chassis-mounted equipment. The M2 106 is practical and stylish, with a gross volume weight rating (GVWR) of up to 66,000 pounds for maximum hauling capacity. The sheer versatility of this vehicle makes it ideal for a number of different industries.

Safety is also a priority, with the sloped hood, low-profile dashboard and big windshield allowing for more visibility on the road. The cabs of the M2 106 are made to be lightweight and durable, with corrosion resistant aluminum construction that’s reinforced with e-coated steel.

122SD

This Class 8, 350-60HP model is built to handle the most demanding of jobs! Some of the standard features on the 122SD Freightliner truck are an Eaton Fuller® 10-speed manual transmission, a front axle rated at 12,000 lbs and a rear axle rated at 40,000 lbs. Its ergonomic wraparound dash is designed to be driver-friendly, quiet and long-lasting.

The 122 SD truck is also equipped with a 1,700 square-inch radiator that can cool engines up to 600hp/2050lb-ft. torque with loads up to 210,000 lbs. A sleek and durable hood with bright-finish steel grille surround and signature chromed hood handle make this an eye-catching vehicle on the road. To allow for easy engine access and serviceability, the hood can be tilted to almost 90 degrees.
